Birkenhead shipyard Cammell Laird is close to clinching a “significant” deal with German energy giant RWE that would create hundreds of jobs and a major renewable energy operation at the Wirral yard.
Sources have confirmed to LDP Business that Laird and RWE are planning a huge assembly operation at the historic yard linked to plans for an offshore wind farm 12 miles off the Isle of Man.
Laird is also proposing to develop an in-river jetty to serve the Irish Sea wind farm from the River Mersey as part of the multi-million pound development.
