Assistant Project Manager Naval Refits

MAIN PURPOSE:Manage the day to day operations of ship repair/conversion/refit
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES –
- Responsible for the day to day running of the refit/work schedule onboard a vessel in refit.
- Responsible to undertake hull and machinery/equipment surveys and raise the appropriate Inspection Reports to submit to the client, following comments from the client assist with the raising and costing of Variation Orders.
- Monitor and coordinate ship repairs and make recommendations on the project schedule.
- Provide technical expertise, advice and solutions to repair solutions.
- Assist the Project Manager with daily planning reviews and to make recommendations to ensure compliance with the schedule.
- Discuss resource requirements/allocation with the project manager
- Ensure adherence to QA and HSE policies
- Ensure that the project documentation is correctly maintained.
PERSON PROFILE -
Education:
Degree Holder in Mechanical/Marine Engineering
Work experience:
18-20 years related work experience
- The incumbent should have a sound knowledge of ship systems such as but not limited to AC Plants, Diesel Engines, Ship Control Systems, Refrigeration, HP & LP Air Compressors, Pumps, RO Units, Sewage treatment plants and Hydraulics . Exposure to a Naval environment is preferable
- Ship repair/building experience in a shipyard is a must
- Must be proficient in the use of project planning software like MS Projects or PRIMAVERA
