Recruiter/HR Generalist
New Orleans, LA This is an Exempt position


Job Description:
This position is primarily responsible for the entire recruitment function for ARTCO's Waggaman location that includes positions in the Fleet, Shipyard and Barge Cleaning operations. Recruitment duties include: attracting, screening applicants for appropriate qualifications and experience; attending job fairs and other recruitment activities as appropriate, including reference and background checks in partnership with ARTCO management and CARCO. This position includes overnight travel and may also include attracting candidates for positions at ADM's Gromark operation in Louisiana. This position will also act as human resources generalist for this ARTCO location.

Requirements:
Must have a strong competitive drive, be a self-motivated individual who has the drive to succeed and contribute to our next level of growth. Requires a minimum of 2 years recruiting experience in a highly competitive, supply driven market. Excellent communication, relationship, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision is a must. Knowledge of river industry and Jones Act a definite plus. Experience in Human Resources, with a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Promote a team environment at ARTCO, and supports ARTCO’s policies and procedures.
  • Understand and execute individual responsibilities toward ADM/ARTCO’s safety programs.
  • Utilize established, proven multi-sourcing recruiting techniques to attract qualified applicants as well as developing your own creative recruiting methods.
  • Establish professional relationships with these recruits to develop a network for attracting future applicants and retaining current employees.
  • Generate a high volume of quality diverse candidates under tight deadlines.
  • Handle confidential information, strong attention to detail. Must be experienced and comfortable with computer system applications (mainframe and web based). Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook experience.
  • Conduct investigations and make recommendations to management.
  • Involvement with employee relations issues.
  • Ability and answer general benefit and policy questions.
